All photo galleries are accessible from the main menu on the left hand side of the screen. Each and every gallery contains many photographs, spread over several pages, which are initially displayed as small thumbnail images. Should you see a thumbnail image which arouses your curiosity - simply left-click it, and a medium-sized version of the image will be displayed. Should you then click on the medium sized image; a new window will open and the full sized version of the image will appear. At this point you may right-click the large image to "Set as Background" (i.e. to place the image on your desktop). The large image window can then be closed to reveal the normal gallery view.
The overwhelming majority of photo gallery images are stored at a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, and range from around 50Kb to as high as 500Kbytes in file size. Larger high-quality versions of the very best gallery images can also be accessed from the Friends of Walney download area.
All our gallery images, with the possible exception of some images in the Users Uploads area, are © WalneyIsle.co.uk and are free for non-profit personal use by the public at large and Walney Islanders in particular. Should you wish to contribute towards the site's web-hosting costs you may purchase affordable high resolution hard copy versions of the best of WalneyIsle.co.uk images (or other suveniers which feature them - such as coffee mugs, mouse mats, key rings, etc.) you may do so from photobox.co.uk All images on this site are considered appropriate viewing for all age groups, children included. Should you see anything untoward in any of the galleries please use the FEEDBACK link at the bottom of the relevant page to contact the webmaster with a view to having the offending item removed.
All web site visitors - especially locals and ex-pats - are encouraged to register as a Friend of Walney in order that they may add meaningful comments to any gallery image which takes their fancy, or about which they happen to have particularly detailed knowledge. All visitors are of course more than welcome to use the "Send this image as an e-card" link in the galleries to create a personalised greetings card which they may send to friends or family members. The IP address of all who post comments is logged and can be blocked at any time to prevent further comments being made should any abuse or mis-use occour.
