Friends of Walney Basic Membership FAQ:-

Q. How do I Log In

A. Click the [FRIENDS of WALNEY] link in the right-hand-side column and log in to your account.

Q. How do I add a comments to images in the photo galleries

Providing you are already logged in when you visit the galleries you will see a text box below each image inviting you to comment on it. This feature is for you, regular web site visitors do not see it.

Type your comment in the box and click the "Add this comment" button, then click the relevant link to take you back to the image. Your comment may not be immediately visible; in which case click the "Refresh" button of your browser (or press the "Ctrl" and "R" keys simultaneously) to reload the page and reveal your comment.

Q. Are there any restrictions on the sort of comments that can be made?

A. Yes. The posting of any comment which in the webmasters opinion promotes; religious beliefs, agressive or anti-social behaviour, or any form of sexual persuit or activity, is specifically prohibited and highly likely to result in the account in question being terminated without further notice.

Q. How do I access Radio Free Walney

A. Log in as normal then simply use the Radio Free Walney link on the main menu and it will take you to the programme listings page. Select a programme you'd like to listen to and click it's "play" link, and your default media player will automatically take over and play the entire programme while you continue to browse at will.

Q. How do I access files in the high quality downloads area

A. Log in as normal then simply visit the High Quality Downloads Area and the download links will automatically be displayed adjacent to every item. If you forget to log in - or if you aren't registered with Friends of Walney - those links will not appear .

Q. Do I need to log in and out every time I visit

A. That's entirely up to you. There's no requirement that you should ever log out so far as the web site's concerned. If you don't log out you'll find that next time you go to the relevant pages it's special features are already enabled. And for some that's quite convenient, especially if you regularly make lots of gallery comments as you browse. But on the down-side; if someone were to post an offensive comment from your computer (as a result of you not logging out) the responsibility for it would definitely be yours. My advice would be that if there's only you and the dog - leave it logged in. Whereas if you throw lots of wild parties and/or regularly play practical jokes on your pals - do the smart thing - and get used to logging out.

Colin.
